Plenty of hen groups build a Saturday around it, or around Call Lane if costumes aren’t their thing. Either way you’ll want one part of the weekend where everyone sits down, and a life drawing class at the house is a good candidate.

What you're signing up for
You get a male model for 90 minutes, or two hours if you add £50. In the first 45 minutes he poses and you draw: three or four poses, nude as standard, partly clothed if you’ve asked. In the last 45 he’s in butler attire, serving drinks, hosting party games, picking the drawing he likes most and standing in for group photos. The model is a Butler in the Buff by trade and leads the session himself, and with no tutor in the room it stays relaxed for people who haven’t drawn since school.
Paper, pencils, rubbers and sharpeners come with him, in A4 and in quantities for 20. The starting price is £15 per person, which is based on up to 20 guests, and larger groups can be arranged on request.
Back-to-backs, big terraces and city flats
Leeds kept its back-to-back houses when most cities knocked theirs down, and plenty of rentals in Hyde Park, Burley and Kirkstall are exactly that. A back-to-back has one outside wall, so the living room window looks directly onto the street. Keep the blind down for the drawing half, because the venue must not be overlooked by the public.
The large terraces in Headingley and Chapel Allerton sleep more people and often have a second sitting room or a dining room, which gives you a choice. Pick the one with the most floor. Apartments at Leeds Dock and Granary Wharf have open-plan living areas with balconies facing other blocks, so the same goes for blinds there. In every case he needs a bedroom to change in, and each guest needs a tray or a hardback to rest on.

We’re doing the Otley Run on the Saturday afternoon. When should the class go?
Somewhere it gets a clear 90 minutes, two hours on the longer booking, plus the spare hour we ask you to leave after the planned finish. Before the first pub is a safer bet than after the last.
Our Headingley house sleeps 16 but has one small dining table. What do we lean on?
Books, trays or anything flat and firm. The kit he brings is for drawing with, and nothing to rest the paper on is included.
The house is a back-to-back, so the lounge window is right on the street. Is that allowed?
Yes, as long as nobody outside can see in. Close the blind or curtains before the model starts posing.
