Meet our lovely Butler… Jamie.
Jamie, has been a butler for nearly three years. He is 25 years old and from Essex. He’s ready to meet you – but the question is, are you ready to meet him?
Tell us a bit about yourself…
I spend most of my time working with my family at the stables, but when I’m not there or working as a butler, I am hanging out with my fiancée and our three Jack Russells.
How did you become a butler?
I saw the job advertised in a fitness magazine and thought I’d give it a shot. I didn’t think I had a hope of being successful, but I was wrong!
How was your first butler experience?
Walking into the room, I felt like a rabbit in the headlights! Luckily, I soon got the hang of things and have never looked back.
What’s been your funniest butler moment?
There are too many to mention, but one that sticks in my mind is being chased around a house by a woman brandishing a phallic object. Luckily, I was much quicker than she was.
And the most embarrassing?
That would have to be when I was asked to go to the off licence to stock up on more booze wearing just my ‘work clothes’. Or when it was requested I model ladies underwear. They are experiences that still haunt me today…
What do people say when you tell them what you do?
I tend to get one of two reactions. Either that they don’t believe me, or that they think it’s hilarious and swiftly ask me if I’m free to liven up their mum’s birthday!
What advice have you got for any future butlers?
You couldn’t ask for better motivation to stay in shape and be healthy. Another tip is to brush up on your cocktails – being asked to mix weird and wonderful-sounding drinks can really keep you on your toes. Although shaking up a Cosmo is the perfect way to flex those guns and get the night going!
