Summer Time Hen Party Cocktails and Fun Ideas

4 Mar 2015

Summer is our favourite time of year, when your hair is lighter and your freckles come out and all you have to wear is a floaty dress. It is a time when everyone seems to be happier because of all that increased vitamin D!

Planning your hen party for the summer means you can take advantage of some great outdoor activities that will make all your guests wanting to be a bit more of a naturist. That doesn’t mean you and your hens will have to rough it in the rain on a hilltop though, there are plenty of fabulous ideas ensuring you keep clean and mud-free.

We have scoured the internet to find summer hen party inspiration and have listed some of our favourite ideas:

Summer hen party idea #1: Bridal BBQ

hen-party-ideas-cocktailWhen we think of summer the first thing that comes to our minds is a barbeque. Who can resist deliciously charcoaled meats, colourful salads and fruity cocktails?! A BBQ in your back garden gives you the freedom to plan everything exactly how to want from food to music to décor, while at the same time keeping costs down. If the idea of maintaining the actual BBQ without your man seems daunting, we have the perfect solution! A semi-naked, charming man to not only look after the BBQ, but also serve the food, keep drinks topped up and host your hen party games will solve all your worries.

We love the idea of making frozen margarita popsicles for a refreshing treat! Find the ingredients and recipe here.

Summer hen party idea #2: Girls Glamping

glamping-hen-party-ideasEarlier we mentioned camping on a muddy hill, but we think you should consider ‘glamping’. Defined as glamorous camping, this is a phenomenon that has spread globally as an upgrade to traditional camping. Your hen party can enjoy the peacefulness of the outdoors without sacrificing luxury. There are several websites (try this one!) where can find you thesmores-hen-party-ideasperfect yurt, treehouse or log cabin for your girls’ glamping trip. But there are parts of a camping trip that we don’t think you should forget, like indoor s’mores (recipe) or campfire stories. Gossiping with your favourite girls under the stars and drinking glasses of wine sounds like successful hen party to us!

Try the Campfire Story Bridal Game!

Equipment:

  • Scraps of paper
  • Pens
  • Mason jar

Instructions:

  • Each guest will jot down a story about her and the bride, and place it in the jar
  • The bride must read each story and guess which guest the story belongs to
  • Whoever’s story the bride can’t remember wins a prize – it’s only fair!

Summer hen party idea #3: Garden Cocktails

Imagine your garden decorated with fairy lights and pretty bunting, with music in the background and a table full of canapés and cupcakes. This could be the setting to your hen party cocktail evening! Take advantage of a warm summer evening to play hen party games while enjoying one, or several delicious cocktails. Hen party games are important for breaking the ice between all your guests that have never met before, and to help them bond. One of our other blogs (found here***) has a list with instructions of our favourite hen party games. The alcohol drank at this evening shouldn’t just be for a forfeit though! We have found some summery cocktails that can be created quite easily. Or you could give the recipes to a handsome butler and he will shake and stir your drinks up for you!

1. Pimm’s Royale.

This is such an easy cocktail, simply add a splash of pimms to your champagne for a taste of summer. Don’t forget to throw in some strawberries and cucumbers!
